Do you do enough in English to improve?

June 9, 2020 , by Dr Julian Northbrook
Question: do you do enough in English? If you don't see progress, I can almost guarantee that you absolutely do not. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=190VmCQDEU4

If you want to improve in English...

... two things have to happen:
  1. Intensive, focused study each and every day, and
  2. As much usage and exposure to English as you can possibly get.
Both of these things have to happen. (See the free "Rocket Launch Method" training.) Just studying English will leave you with academic knowledge that you can't actually use in the real world. Just using English will leave you with very messy English that is hard for people to understand and that doesn't ever grow. Balance is everything.

Most people aren't doing enough in English

Take Alex, one of my current MEFA members who said:
"The last two weeks I used English more than for the whole year before now."
He is not in a special situation. And anyone can do what he did (in fact, I teach it in Week 1 of my Accelerator course). You've just got to think outside the box a little.

At the end of the day

The more you do in English, when combined with the right kind of focused learning and study, the faster you will improve. The study is important, of course. You can't JUST do stuff in English and expect to improve: that's many people who live in English speaking countries end up disappointed. If you want to learn more about this, the best place to start is my free "Rocket Launch Method" training, where I'll teach you the method I use, and the 5 changes you need to make to the way you learn and use English to improve. Best, Julian Northbrook

Someone asked me on Instagram about getting a good score on writing tests, or on the CPE. Here’s my answer: In short, I’m really not the person to ask about tests. It’s not my speciality, and it’s not you thing. In fact, I actively dislike the testing industry and teaching for tests. But, although I
